About the Plant
Known locally as Lsien il-fart żgħir, this indigenous annual or biennial grows especially in Malta’s steppe and abandoned fields. Its name Echium comes from the Greek word for “viper”, referring to the flower’s supposed resemblance to a snake’s head.
