About the Plant
Golden samphire is an indigenous, salt-tolerant plant commonly found along Malta and Gozo’s rocky coasts, particularly on globigerina limestone. Its fleshy leaves withstand summer drought and sea spray, while its yellow flowers provide food for insects from July to October, when relatively few other wild plants are flowering.
