About the Plant

Asparagus aphyllus
Known locally as spraġġ xewwieki, this indigenous Mediterranean asparagus grows in rocky ground, steppe, valley sides and disturbed places across Malta. Its tiny cream-coloured flowers appear in autumn among clusters of sharply pointed cladodes, later giving way to dark berries.
