About the Plant
Known in Maltese as Te’ Sqalli, white hedge-nettle is an indigenous Mediterranean shrub found in Malta’s garigue, stone walls and valley sides. Despite its English name, it belongs to the mint family rather than the nettle family; its small white or lilac flowers appear from January to May.
